The Mondraker Zendit S Bike is the entry point to Mondraker's flagship electric mountain bike platform, with 165mm of rear travel, a 170mm fork and an Avinox M2S motor behind the cranks. It is a full-power e-MTB for riders who want an aggressive, long-travel bike that climbs under its own power and descends like an enduro machine. Mondraker describes the current Zendit as the result of 11 years of electric mountain bike development.

A frame built around the motor

This is Mondraker's first Zendit built around Avinox, and the company says the frame and suspension kinematics were developed with that drive system in mind. The front triangle is Stealth Air Carbon, and on the Zendit S it is paired with a Stealth Alloy rear triangle. The Zero suspension system delivers 165mm of rear travel, and the frame uses a Boost 12x148mm rear axle and a universal derailleur hanger.

The motor is the Avinox M2S, rated at 1,300 watts peak power and 150Nm of torque. It is paired with a fixed 800Wh battery, so you get the range for long days of climbing. Control comes from the Avinox DP100 display and BC100 wireless controllers, one on each side of the bar, which keeps your hands where they should be when you want to change assist modes mid-ride.

Mullet or full 29er, and two geometry settings

The Zendit ships as a mullet, with a 29-inch Maxxis Assegai in front and a 27.5-inch Maxxis Minion DHR II in the rear. The smaller rear wheel tucks the back end in, which makes the bike easier to flick through corners and to get behind on steep descents. If you prefer a full 29er, a flip chip in the frame changes the chainstay length so you can fit a 29-inch rear wheel. A second setting shifts the geometry between standard and low positions.

The numbers describe a bike built for steep ground. The head angle is 63.5 degrees in the standard setting and 63.15 degrees in the low setting, and the chainstays are 450mm on sizes S through ML and 455mm on the L and XL. Reach runs from 440mm in the small to 520mm in the XL in the standard setting, so a rider between sizes has a real choice. Cranks are a short 155mm, which helps keep pedal strikes down on technical climbs, and the bar is 800mm wide.

The Zendit S build

The suspension is RockShox: a ZEB Base fork with 170mm of travel and a Super Deluxe Select rear shock. Shifting is SRAM 70 Eagle AXS T-Type with a 10-52 cassette, and the e*thirteen Helix Core crankset carries a 36-tooth chainring. Stopping power comes from SRAM Maven Base four-piston brakes with 200mm rotors, which is the right size for a bike this heavy and this fast downhill.

Other parts are chosen for hard use. The wheels are Mavic E-Access XR30 with a 30mm internal width and tubeless-ready rims. The cockpit is Onoff, with a 6061 alloy stem and a 7050 alloy bar. An X-Fusion Manic dropper is sized by frame, from 125mm of drop on the small to 200mm on the large and XL, so taller riders get a longer post. The saddle is an Ergon SM10 E-Mountain, and Onoff Desert Pro grips complete the contact points. Pedals are not included.

Who it suits

Reviews of other Zendit builds describe a fast, stable bike that rewards energetic riding, with a long wheelbase that keeps it planted at speed. That character carries across the platform. If you ride steep, technical trails, shuttle-style descents or big mountain days where the battery does the climbing, the Zendit S is the most affordable way into that frame. It comes in S, M, ML, L and XL, in Obsidian Grey or Optic White.
